Leasing as an Investment?

by CR

I am 16. I have access to the quarterly proprietary information on wanted ground and roof locations within Verizon, specifically in the PNW. Theoretically, would it be possible to simply purchase the land from the current owners, who do not know the value, and the lease that land out to verizon directly (possible at more PER YEAR than the total amount paid for the land)? Do cell companies prefer to lease from this? And, if given favorable terms, what roughly would a high-demand tower pay annually at 40 years?

And another thing...

CR -- I should not jump to conclusions. You might be a cell tower leasing prodigy and I have no idea how you could have obtained such a list. Maybe you won it legit in a poker game or it fell off the back of a truck?

If I had a list like that I would have retired in 5 years. But in life you have to make choices and there is an ethical line that you are thinking about crossing. Even though big bad Verizon is a multi billion dollar company, they guard that information very closely and I am sure that there aren't a lot of people who have access to this sort of information. Probably would not be hard for their corporate security to put one and one together -- assuming they care about this sort of thing.

The other problem is that something that is proprietary generally means that it is the intellectual property of somebody else. Being in possession of that get you into a lot of trouble since that sort of information is worth millions of dollars. Not even kidding.

I have a very successful family member who got their start in private business by "acquiring" intellectual property from two former employers and parlayed that into a small fortune. Don't be like him. If you have that list, delete it, destroy it, put it through the shredder.

I wish you all the best and I hope that you do the right thing.

Proprietary...

How exactly does a 16-year old obtain proprietary information?

Just because you have access to that sort of information does not make what you are thinking about doing ethical. However if done right you can be a millionaire before you turn 21.

I could help you but I won't.

Sorry.
