I have some inherited property that is extremely mountainous. I do know that several Cellular companies are looking for places to rent in this rural area. Can I purchase my own tower and rent the its use. I want to purchase the tower because most Cellular companies want a paved road at least 500 feet away in accessibility. That is not going to happen in my neck of the woods.
What you're thinking of doing is not new: "Rack and Power" by: Anonymous
What you're thinking of doing is not new: It is called "Rack and Power" - That is what Tower Management companies do. The only advantage is The Carriers have already told them where they have need for a Tower - the information that you do not currently have. Another thing is that Cell Tower locations is not an exact science, but an Art... So, If you build it, they will come!!! A bit of a financial gamble, but it may pay off because its costs approximately $200,000 to develop, but they resale for about $400,000.

Risky business by: Stephen
It's always a risky proposition to "buy" or more specifically, to build your own tower, hoping that the carriers will show up . If you have $200K available for permitting design and construction, you still would need at least one letter of intent to have a wireless carrier on your tower application. Contact the carriers or developers like American Tower or SBA or Crown to gauge their interest.
