Depends on the carrier and type of site
by: Tower Genius

For a single carrier they may ned as little as a 20' x 30' space. Tower developers who do not sell voice and data plans and only are in the vertical real estate business want to squeeze every fiat dime's worth of currency out of your site so they will probably need at least a 50' x 50' area , but most likely a 100' x 100' area is typical for a monopole or lattice tower. Once you are dealing with a guyed wire tower (likely not in the city but in rural outskirts of Austin) depending on the height of the tower they could take up to 5 acres or so.
