Does our current lease agreement with Verizon automatically transfer to American Tower with the lease/sale of tower sites or can we renegotiate the lease? We are wondering what the going rate for tower rental space is in our area of WY.
Comments for Verizon Sale of Leases to American Tower
I'm getting pressed to sign these forms from American Tower. I have resisted asking for my slice of the pie. I'm wondering what others in the same position are doing.
Editor's Note: Read your lease. Assignment. Now's not the time to fight with them. They are not going to hold up a $5 Billion deal over one tower, and you will wind up in default. Additionally, American Tower will actually market your site. Verizon made money off of voice and data calls on your tower, ATC has a completely different business model. Please call us, Tower Genius 888-313-9750 so we can help you figure out a strategy specific to your tower and lease. Depending on how much time is left until your Verizon lease expires, American Tower will be talking to you sooner than later to extend. And THAT'S when you can fix the rent and terms... It makes absolutely zero sense for you to make a fuss over the lease transfer at this point.

Assuming your Verizon tower is part of the American Tower deal, it should simply assign over to American Tower. That does not mean that you can negotiate automatically. There's a good chance they will be calling you to adjust the terms or extend your lease in the next year or two.
