I live just north of Nashville in the country. Verizon showed up at my house in august wanting to build a tower. I didn't hear from them again til oct 28th. 5 of them came and walked my hill on nov 22nd. the engineer said I had a prime location. im 15 miles from Nashville and you can see downtown from my hill. the following wednsday, day before thanksgiving, surveyors showed up and no one told me they were coming. they asked me how much I was getting in rent. I told them we have not discussed that yet. the surveyors said that was odd and that they hadn't done a survey before the rent was settled. any advice I would appreciate

Have you heard anything more? If you didn't give permission for them to be on your property, did you have them arrested for trespassing?

You are just a number to them and something that they have to deal with before they get their way. I would call them and ask "what is going on?"
You need to do your research. I found this site very helpful. Do not sign anything without help from an expert on tower leases. They know what to look for in the lease and should have an idea of what monthly rent and escalation you should receive.
